Squad Busters, Supercell's latest MOBA RTS, has achieved over 40 million installs and generated $24 million in net revenue within its first thirty days. This impressive performance is particularly strong in the United States, leading in player numbers, followed by Indonesia, Brazil, Turkey, and South Korea.
However, these figures also highlight a concerning trend for Supercell. Since its launch, spending on Squad Busters has declined, with the game earning significantly less than Supercell's previous successes. For instance, Brawl Stars earned $43 million in its first month back in 2018, while Clash Royale amassed over $115 million in its debut month in 2016.
Even more concerning, the number of installs for Squad Busters has decreased sharply, starting with a peak of 30 million in the first week and dropping to below five million by the end of the thirty-day period.
Is there Supercell fatigue?Supercell's recent releases are showing signs of diminishing returns, despite the high expectations for Squad Busters. For context, our sister site PocketGamer.biz notes that Honkai Star Rail, another mobile game, generated $190 million in its first month, far exceeding Squad Busters' earnings.
While Squad Busters is undoubtedly a solid game, it falls squarely within Supercell's established niche. This similarity might suggest a growing fatigue among mobile gamers towards Supercell's offerings. Only time will tell how Squad Busters will fare in the long run.
