Exciting news for fans of *Stellar Blade* — developer Shift Up has officially confirmed that a full sequel is in the works. The original title, published by PlayStation and released in April 2024, received widespread praise for its intense action gameplay that blended elements from beloved titles like *NieR: Automata* and *Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice*. Now, thanks to a recently published financial report, we know more about what’s next for the franchise.
As part of Shift Up’s latest earnings presentation, a strategic roadmap was revealed showing key upcoming projects. At the forefront? A direct sequel to *Stellar Blade*, listed as the next major entry in the company's lineup. According to the chart, this sequel will arrive before the end of 2027, alongside other anticipated titles.
Before the sequel hits shelves, there's also mention of a “platform expansion” for the original game. This is widely interpreted as confirmation of the previously announced PC version, set to launch on Steam June 11, 2025. However, recent issues surrounding regional store restrictions have raised questions among global players. Earlier this week, Shift Up stated it was actively working with Sony to resolve a mysterious region-locking problem affecting the game’s Steam page in over 100 countries.
Looking further ahead, Shift Up’s development timeline also includes details about Project Witches, an enigmatic new multiplatform action RPG currently under wraps. More information on that title is expected in the coming months.

In our *Stellar Blade* review, IGN praised the game’s combat system while noting some shortcomings in narrative depth and side content design:
“*Stellar Blade* stands out as a gorgeous and well-crafted action game with very impressive strengths and very clear weaknesses. Both its story and characters lack substance, and some of its RPG elements are poorly implemented, like dull sidequests that very often require you to retrace your steps through previous levels with very little done to make the return trip feel unique or rewarding. But its action picks up most of that slack thanks to the rock solid fundamentals of its Sekiro-inspired combat system, a deep well of hideous monstrosities to sharpen your sword against, and plenty of hidden goodies that do a great job of incentivizing exploration throughout.*”
With a confirmed sequel already in the pipeline, fans can look forward to even deeper combat mechanics, improved storytelling, and expanded world design in the next chapter of this fast-evolving action franchise.
