Take-Two Interactive, la société mère de Rockstar Games (développeurs de GTA 6), a révélé son orientation stratégique sur le développement de nouvelles propriétés intellectuelles (IP) parallèlement à ses franchises établies.

Le PDG de Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, a souligné l'importance de se diversifier au-delà des anciennes IP comme Grand Theft Auto (GTA) et Red Dead Redemption (RDR). Tout en reconnaissant le succès des suites, Zelnick a souligné le risque inhérent à s'appuyer uniquement sur des franchises établies, affirmant que même les jeux les plus réussis finissent par perdre en popularité. Il a mis en garde contre le danger de « brûler les meubles pour chauffer la maison » – une métaphore du fait de trop s'appuyer sur les succès passés au détriment de l'innovation.

Concernant les sorties à venir, Zelnick a confirmé que Take-Two prévoyait d'éviter de sortir des titres majeurs trop rapprochés. Bien que la fenêtre de sortie de GTA 6 soit toujours fixée à l'automne 2025, elle sera considérablement éloignée de Borderlands 4, prévue pour le printemps 2025/2026.

Take-Two investit activement dans de nouvelles licences et sa filiale Ghost Story Games se prépare à lancer "Judas", un jeu de rôle et de tir à la première personne basé sur une histoire, en 2025.
