Power Rangers is reportedly set for a live-action series on Disney+. The Wrap reports that Percy Jackson and the Olympians showrunners Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz are in talks to write, showrun, and produce the series for Disney+ and 20th Century TV. Hasbro, the owner of the Power Rangers franchise, aims to reinvent the series for a new generation while retaining the appeal for longtime fans.

The 90s TV show, Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, captivated a generation with its teenage superheroes and their combinable mechs.

Hasbro acquired the Power Rangers franchise, along with other Saban Properties brands, in a $522 million deal in 2018. At the time, Hasbro cited the brand's "tremendous upside potential," envisioning opportunities across toys, consumer products, digital gaming, and entertainment globally. Brian Goldner, Hasbro's then-chairman and CEO, highlighted these opportunities.

PlayThis move followed the unsuccessful 2017 film reboot, which, despite aiming for a gritty, multi-sequel approach, underperformed at the box office, leading Saban to sell the rights.

Other notable Hasbro projects include a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series, The Forgotten Realms, currently in development at Netflix; an animated Magic: The Gathering series, also at Netflix; and a Magic: The Gathering cinematic universe.
