Sony has detailed the PC specifications for The Last of Us Part II Remastered prior to its April 3 launch, including PSN login incentives and new content updates for the No Return mode on both PC and PlayStation 5.

In a PlayStation Blog update, developer Naughty Dog outlined the features contributed by support studios Nixxes Software and Iron Galaxy for the PC edition of The Last of Us Part II Remastered, which follows the PlayStation 5 release by one year.

The Last of Us Part II Remastered PC features:

Nvidia DLSS 3 Super Resolution support
AMD FSR 3.1 and AMD FSR 4 support with upscaling and frame generation
VSync and framerate cap options, including an uncapped framerate mode
DirectStorage support
Adjustable Texture Quality
LOD Distance Range
Volumetric Quality
Shadow Quality
Ambient Occlusion
Reflections Quality

The game also supports ultrawide displays, allowing gameplay in 21:9 ultrawide, 32:9 super ultrawide, and even 48:9 resolutions compatible with triple-monitor configurations.

As expected, 4K resolution is supported alongside various controller types and keyboard and mouse input. The title also incorporates 3D audio.

Keyboard and mouse customization features comprehensive control remapping, primary and secondary key bindings, and an adaptive input mode that blends keyboard and controller inputs. Full gamepad support is included, with DualSense controllers providing complete haptic feedback.

"The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC includes extensive graphics settings and presets to deliver optimal performance across high-end desktops and handheld gaming devices," Sony stated.

Regarding No Return mode, two additional characters are joining the roster: Bill and Marlene from The Last of Us Part I.

Sony provided this official description:

Each No Return combatant brings distinct gameplay approaches, giving both newcomers and veterans fresh strategic opportunities. Bill utilizes a "Smuggler" playstyle, retrieving custom pump shotguns from dead drops and earning double rewards from these caches. He resists melee attacks effectively but cannot dodge. Marlene employs a "Risk Taker" style featuring a Custom Assault Rifle, "All or Nothing" gambits, one path reroll per run, and additional high-risk, high-reward mechanics.

Four additional environments are being added to No Return as well.

Overlook, positioned above Seattle with multi-level vertical design, revisits a notable Seraphites engagement from the story campaign. School recreates the abandoned elementary school where Ellie and Dina confronted the W.L.F. Streets unfolds in the overgrown Hillcrest neighborhood of Seattle, while Nest will be recognizable to players who navigated an Infected-occupied building during Abby's storyline. We've been thrilled by the community's response to this mode since Part II Remastered launched on PS5, and we believe these new maps will enhance replayability and excitement for players undertaking fresh attempts.

All new No Return content, accompanied by additional Trophies and bug resolutions, will be available on PS5 simultaneously with the PC release through a complimentary 2.0.0 update, Sony confirmed.

Aligning with Sony's revised PlayStation Network approach, The Last of Us 2 Remastered on PC features optional PSN integration. Players who connect their PSN account gain access to the PlayStation overlay and PSN Trophies. As additional motivation, Sony announced that PSN registrants receive 50 in-game points to unlock bonus features, plus a new Ellie appearance featuring Jordan A. Mun's jacket from Naughty Dog's upcoming PS5 title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

Sony clarified that PS5 players can also obtain Jordan's jacket cosmetic. It's included in the 2.0 update and unlockable using in-game bonus points.

Earlier this month, The Last of Us creative director Neil Druckmann shared development insights about Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. During an discussion with Alex Garland, screenwriter for 28 Days Later, Druckmann openly discussed the creation process, confirming Intergalactic has been in development for four years.

"I often tell the team this jokingly. We developed The Last of Us 2 with specific creative choices that generated substantial criticism. While many players loved it, others strongly disliked those decisions," Druckmann remarked, to which Garland responded humorously: "Why does it matter?"

"Precisely," Druckmann continued. "So the running joke became, let's create something that won't provoke such strong reactions – let's make a game exploring faith and religion."

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, featuring Tati Gabrielle as Jordan A. Mun, unfolds in an alternate historical setting and incorporates a "significant religious element" that has "transformed, corrupted, and evolved" over centuries, Druckmann explained.

The PC version of The Last of Us 2 Remastered launches preceding Season 2 of HBO's acclaimed television adaptation. Series creators Druckmann and Craig Mazin have verified the return of spores after their absence from Season 1.
