The journey of "Daredevil: Born Again" from script to screen was marked by numerous adjustments and rewrites. However, only one episode remained completely unchanged: Episode 5. Ironically, this happens to be star Charlie Cox's least favorite episode of the entire season.
"I don’t know if this is interesting, but I will mention that there was one episode we didn’t change at all," Cox shared in a recent interview with The Playlist.
"It's the bank episode, which was part of our original shoot before the strike. That episode came from the initial draft, and personally, I wasn't a fan."
Cox told the outlet that he "pushed back against it as much as I felt was reasonable." The episode centers on his character, Matt Murdock—also known as Daredevil—who gets trapped in the middle of a bank robbery while trying to secure a loan for his law firm, which he runs with partners Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll).
"That felt like a game from the 1970s," Cox remarked about the episode. "With today's technology, that kind of scenario just wouldn't work. Plus, I didn’t think the method used for the theft was sophisticated enough."

Despite his own opinion, the actor acknowledged that many fans seemed to truly enjoy the episode.
"I really pushed back on that episode, and yet I keep hearing from so many people how much they loved it. It just goes to show you never really know—taste is so subjective," Cox added. "Everyone has different preferences, and I’ve heard that episode is one of the highest rated internally. According to their metrics, it's one of Disney's top-performing shows."
We were also big fans of Episode 5. In our review of "Daredevil: Born Again" Episodes 5 and 6, we wrote: "It’s all executed so well. I can’t recall the last time a Marvel series kept me smiling throughout an entire episode and held my attention from beginning to end. This episode also accomplishes something crucial, especially given Daredevil's limited screen time so far: it highlights what makes Matt Murdock such a unique and compelling hero, even when he’s not in costume."
