Marvel Rivals Upcoming Features and Events
Switch Shader Compilation Mode
NetEase is introducing an innovative experimental feature designed to enhance Marvel Rivals' stability and minimize its memory usage. Announced via a Twitter (X) post on April 30, the upcoming Season 2 will feature the Switch Shader Compilation Mode, which promises a smoother experience, particularly for players with lower RAM or those concerned about FPS.
To delve deeper into what players can expect, Marvel Rivals shared a comprehensive blog on their official website. The blog addresses the community's concerns about performance stutters and crashes caused by high memory consumption during gameplay.
The blog explains, "To combat memory overload, we're introducing an experimental feature in Season 2: the Switch Shader Compilation Mode. With the Season 2 update, players can enable this feature through the PC launcher." This mode is especially beneficial for those with 16GB of RAM or less.
When activated, this feature enhances the game in the following ways:
- The shader compilation process will occur only when first entering the game after a new game version or graphics driver update.
- Game memory usage is significantly reduced, mitigating severe FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes due to memory shortages.
However, the developers have highlighted some known issues associated with this feature. Initially, at the start of each match, some materials may render abnormally for a few frames before returning to normal. Additionally, minor stutters might occur but will resolve themselves during the match.
