A Knight of Decay: Xbox Brings Avowed’s Plague to London

A decaying knight statue, its armor consumed by unsettling, real-world fungi, has materialized in London – a chilling premonition of the plague gripping Avowed's world. This striking installation, crafted by Xbox, serves as both a captivating artwork and a stark warning, immersing onlookers in the game's grim Dreamscourge reality. Accompanying promotional posters for the Xbox Series X|S version complete the scene, transforming a typical London street into a gateway to Avowed's universe.

Xbox has released a behind-the-scenes YouTube video documenting the creation of this ominous display, offering fans an intimate look at this unique marketing campaign.

Avowed has garnered significant acclaim from Steam users, with 81% of Deluxe Edition players recommending it prior to its official release, generating considerable anticipation for today's Standard Edition launch.

Gaming journalist Jason Schreier has voiced his strong approval, highlighting Avowed's exceptional world design, narrative, and combat – but particularly its unparalleled exploration:

"Avowed has completely captivated me. Obsidian's storytelling and combat are predictably excellent, but the world design is truly remarkable. Every path leads somewhere, every rooftop is accessible, and there's always a hidden detail waiting to be discovered. Even after 40 hours, I'm still exploring."

Schreier also acknowledges a disparity in opinions between critics and players, drawing parallels to Fallout: New Vegas:

"Some reviews have surprised me. It mirrors the Fallout: New Vegas situation – critics were divided, yet players elevated it to legendary status. Avowed might follow a similar path."

Fallout: New Vegas, initially scoring 83 on Metacritic, subsequently achieved iconic RPG status. Could Avowed be destined for a comparable rise to RPG greatness?
