The inZOI development team has officially confirmed the removal of Denuvo DRM from their game. This decision follows community reports confirming the presence of the controversial anti-tamper software in the Creative Studio mode demo during the past day. Denuvo has long been criticized in gaming communities for potentially impacting game performance.

This digital rights management technology aims to prevent unauthorized game copying and distribution, though it also creates barriers for legitimate modding communities.

In a March 26 Steam blog update, inZOI Director Hyungjun 'Kjun' Kim explained: "We initially implemented Denuvo to protect against piracy and ensure fairness for paying players. However, after carefully considering community feedback, we recognized this approach conflicted with player expectations."

Kjun also apologized for failing to disclose Denuvo's inclusion earlier. While acknowledging increased piracy risks without DRM, he emphasized the importance of open modding capabilities: "We believe this creative freedom will foster long-term community engagement and innovative player experiences."

inZOI's Commitment to Mod Support

The decision to remove DRM aligns with inZOI's vision as a modder-friendly platform. Initial concerns emerged when Denuvo's inclusion would have restricted player modifications - directly contradicting the studio's stated goals.

"As emphasized during our Online Showcase, modding remains central to inZOI's development," Kjun stated. "Our first phase of official mod tools launches in May, supporting Maya and Blender integration for custom content creation. This represents just the foundation - we plan ongoing expansion of mod support across all game systems."

Krafton continues monitoring community feedback to refine the player experience. inZOI enters Early Access on March 28, 2025 for PC, with PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions planned for full launch (date TBD).
