REPO has taken the horror gaming community by storm since its release, quickly climbing the ranks as one of the most popular co-op horror titles on PC. As part of its ongoing development, Semiwork Studios has released details about the game’s first major update—highlighted by the addition of a unique new item known as the “duck bucket,” designed to help players deal with one of the game’s most terrifying yet oddly adorable threats: The Apex Predator, better known as the duck.

Duck Bucket to Fend Off the Duck

In REPO, players can find themselves hunted by the Apex Predator—a seemingly innocent yellow duck that transforms into a monstrous threat when provoked. To combat this unusual but deadly enemy, developers have announced the introduction of the “duck bucket.” This clever new tool allows players to trap the duck and prevent it from following them or accidentally triggering its terrifying transformation. It's not just practical—it also adds a humorous twist to team coordination, helping players avoid unnecessary panic during intense moments.

Alongside the duck bucket, the update will bring additional improvements such as new facial expressions and other quality-of-life enhancements aimed at making gameplay smoother and more immersive for all players.

New Map Called "The Museum" and Public Lobbies

Another exciting feature coming in the next update is the brand-new map titled “The Museum.” Designed to test players’ agility and teamwork, this level introduces parkour-style mechanics, challenging teams to navigate through complex environments while retrieving valuable items. Extraction zones will now display visible borders, clearly indicating whether collected loot falls within the required area for successful extraction.

Semiwork Studios is also working on implementing public lobbies based on player feedback. While matchmaking options are still under development, the team aims to introduce both public and private lobby choices along with a kick function for hosts. Although this feature requires deeper server-side integration than initially anticipated, the developers remain committed to delivering it in a future update.

Lethal Company Creator’s Advice on REPO

“REPO is fun. At first I thought I didn't like it since I felt so slow (and voice chat range is too small!) But everyone in the group working together to move a grand piano through a cramped old mansion without scraping it—that is like the most funny objective for a horror game.” — Zeekers, Creator of Lethal Company

Since its launch in February, REPO has drawn comparisons to Lethal Company due to shared themes of cooperative horror and mission-based objectives. In response, Zeekers, the creator of Lethal Company, shared constructive feedback via X (formerly Twitter), offering insight into areas where REPO could improve. He praised the game’s comedic and collaborative elements while suggesting refinements such as increasing voice chat range, reducing muffling effects, and rethinking open-level designs that may dilute the tension found in tighter spaces.

Zeekers also noted the need for an in-game tutorial or explanation system to help players understand enemy behavior, particularly regarding silent enemy approaches that make detection difficult. His thoughts reflect the broader community’s hopes for a polished and refined experience as REPO continues to evolve.

Currently ranked as the second best-selling game on Steam behind Counter-Strike 2, REPO has already reached over 230,645 concurrent players, nearing the all-time peak of Lethal Company. With planned updates like the duck bucket, new maps, and improved multiplayer features, REPO shows strong potential to carve out its own identity in the ever-growing co-op horror genre.
