Since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, fans have been buzzing with excitement and speculation about the potential mysteries it might unravel. At the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN uncovered some intriguing details, particularly regarding the enigmatic final cutscene of the base game. For those yet to experience the game's conclusion, be assured that this cutscene teases a thrilling direction for the Lies of P universe. However, director Jiwon Choi has confirmed that the much-discussed twist in the final cutscene will not be explained in the Overture DLC. Choi cryptically advised fans to "stay tuned for additional announcements in the future," leaving the door open for further revelations.
With Neowiz already working on a sequel to Lies of P, it seems likely that the final cutscene's significance might be explored in Lies of P 2. However, Choi remained tight-lipped about the sequel, emphasizing Neowiz's commitment to quality and readiness before sharing any news or assets. He stated, "When we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows our very strict focus on quality amid all the pressure that we talked about in the past."

The scene in question is the intriguing "Dorothy scene." As detailed in our previous coverage, the final cutscene shows Paracelcus on the phone, mentioning, "find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then reveals the iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, hinting at a potential connection to other public domain fairy tales. While the implications of this scene remain a mystery, it's clear that it won't be addressed in Overture.

Choi did, however, provide some tantalizing hints about what fans can expect from Overture. He encouraged players to revisit the base game, noting, "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience. A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in the expansion." He revealed that the DLC will include elements he initially wanted to include in the base game but were ultimately left out. Choi also mentioned that some fans have already picked up on these clues, as he regularly follows online fan theories and finds some to be "quite close."
Additionally, Choi shared that Overture is expected to take experienced players around 15-20 hours to complete. The DLC will be accessible after reaching a "certain" chapter of the game and will remain available until the end. As previously announced, Overture serves as a prequel, with the protagonist being transported back in time to Krat just before its fall. Players can look forward to new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi kept the specifics under wraps to maintain the surprise for the release.
