Halo Infinite Update Boosts Xbox FPS, Calls for Relaunch Campaign

Authore: GraceUpdate:May 22,2025

Halo Infinite's "Summer 2025 Update," which runs until June 10, is now live. This update introduces a wealth of new content, including new playlists, the powerful Mutilator weapon, sandbox updates, enhanced Forge tools, and an expanded Weapon Bench with more weapons. Players can also enjoy 50 additional tiers, four new armor sets, bonus XP, and an extra challenge slot by upgrading to the Premium Operation Pass.

Despite these additions, some fans believe the update might be too little too late. Halo Infinite has undergone significant transformations since its launch, with 343 Industries rebranding to Halo Studios. This followed a sharp decline in player numbers due to frustrations over insufficient content, flawed progression systems, monetization issues, and the cancellation of a highly anticipated battle royale mode.

However, other fans feel that Halo Infinite has reached new heights. In a Reddit thread titled "Halo Infinite REALLY should do a 'relaunch' ad campaign. It's just not the same game as at launch. Not even close," one enthusiast shared their experience: "I can't imagine anyone who enjoys Halo but hasn't given this game a chance, or hasn't played since launch, would be disappointed returning. The game has seen countless updates, including three new guns, numerous new maps, multiple firefight modes, and an abundance of items to unlock and grind for. A relaunch campaign showcasing these changes could significantly boost its reputation and appeal."

They further emphasized the game's evolution: "Three new pieces of equipment, five new guns, over a hundred new maps, ten new game modes, hundreds of new armor pieces, a vastly improved free credit shop, quadrupled ranked playlists, career ranks to grind, and even free battle passes with great armor. The Forge is exceptional, custom games are thriving, and the addition of a custom games browser and firefight with AI integration in Forge are game-changers."

Another fan agreed, stating, "I wholeheartedly agree, the game is easily the best since [Halo 3] and the best 343 has produced. It just took a while to get here, but it's been fun to watch it evolve." A third added, "I share this feeling. I have a buddy who wrote it off early and hasn’t come back. He’s already trashing the game, and I try telling him it’s solid now, but he doesn’t want to hear it." Another enthusiast went as far as to say, "Multiplayer-wise, it's the best Halo ever made."

In another thread, sparked by the iconic image of Master Chief from Halo Infinite's marketing, a fan expressed their love for the game: "I really love Infinite. Been playing since about halfway through Season 1. It revitalized my love for a series I stopped playing during Halo 4's lifespan. It has the best Spartan customization, and I really enjoy the rotating modes, custom games, and the unique yet fun campaign. The music is exceptional, too."

They continued, "Approaching my first Onyx rank and on track to be the first Halo game I hit max career rank. The gameplay blends classic and modern elements seamlessly, with sprint feeling particularly good. Infinite has outgrown its initial release and continues to improve. I’m optimistic about its future and consider it one of my favorites in the series!"

Another fan replied, "It's the best arena shooter on Xbox right now. Halo Infinite scratches that itch that I wish COD did." However, not everyone shares this enthusiasm, with one less enthused fan saying, "This image represents the last little bit of hope I had. I genuinely think Halo’s time is over, the people who understood how to make the magic happen are all scattered and gone."

IGN awarded Halo Infinite's single-player campaign a 9/10 in their review back in 2021, praising it as "exactly what this series needed. It brings out the best in Master Chief's unique and satisfying combat style while leveraging old ideas to create memorable new moments. Its story falls short for both new and veteran players, but it was worth the six-year wait."

With Microsoft’s multiplatform video game release strategy gaining momentum, some Xbox fans are speculating about Halo potentially coming to PlayStation, following games like Forza Horizon 5 and Gears of War. In November, Microsoft’s gaming chief, Phil Spencer, mentioned there are no “red lines” in its first-party lineup, hinting at possible future expansions.
