Team Ninja's long-awaited Ninja Gaiden 4 is finally in development, a collaboration born from discussions between Team Ninja, Koei Tecmo, PlatinumGames, and Xbox's Phil Spencer. Producer Fumihiko Yasuda revealed the project's inception stemmed from years of internal brainstorming at Team Ninja, struggling to solidify a suitable concept. The breakthrough came through conversations involving Koei Tecmo's Hisashi Koinuma, PlatinumGames' Atsushi Inaba, and ultimately, Spencer's pivotal suggestion for a three-way partnership.
Spencer confirmed these discussions began as early as 2017, culminating in the perfect alliance with PlatinumGames, renowned for their expertise in high-octane action titles like Bayonetta and NieR: Automata.
The surprise announcement last week wasn't limited to Ninja Gaiden 4. A remastered version of Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, enhanced from its Xbox 360 origins, simultaneously launched on Xbox, PlayStation 5, and PC.
Initial trailers showcase Ryu Hayabusa's return as the protagonist, promising a thrilling slasher experience. Gameplay footage hints at innovative mechanics absent from previous installments, including dynamic traversal using wires and rails.
While DOOM: The Dark Ages dominated the Developer_Direct, Ninja Gaiden 4's reveal generated considerable excitement. The game is slated for an autumn 2025 release.
