Conquer the Lifer in Wuthering Waves: A Comprehensive Guide
Wuthering Waves version 2.0 introduces the challenging Lifer, a unique Tacet Discord found in the Rinascita region's Oakheart Highcourt maze. This guide details how to defeat this formidable opponent.
Locating the Lifer
The Lifer resides in Oakheart Highcourt's maze center, beneath a giant tree. An accessible entrance is located southwest of the Resonance Beacon near Oakheart Highcourt. Players can climb the walls or utilize the Flight function to reach it.
The Lifer Board Game
Inside, you'll find the Lifer beside a board game with six pieces. The goal is to connect three of your (black) pieces before the Lifer connects three white pieces. Positioning a black piece on the outer circle opens corresponding maze walls and gates. You can exit and resume the game at any time. While not mandatory for the fight, the board game is crucial for debuffing the Lifer. Avoid winning before removing buffs, as the Lifer will immediately attack.
Removing the Lifer's Buffs
The Lifer possesses seven buffs; four are removable using Stakes of Imbalance, while three are permanent. The buffs are visible on a glowing yellow module behind the Lifer.
Removable Buffs (using Stakes of Imbalance):
- Growing Loneliness: Recovers 10% Max HP per second after 2+ seconds without being attacked.
- Desire for Escape: Increases ATK by 25%, and DMG by an additional 25% every 20 seconds.
- Impending Stalemate: Increases ATK by 20% per DMG instance, stacking up to 4 times (stacks reset after 6 seconds without dealing DMG).
- Decay of Time: Grants 200% resistance to all element types (Glacio, Fusion, Electro, Aero, Spectro, Havoc) and increases Max HP by 25%.
Permanent Buffs:
- Chains of Confinement: Interruption immunity above 50% HP.
- Endless Game: 50% reduced Immobilization duration.
- Divine Garden: Repels and damages nearby enemies after taking >25% Max HP in a single hit.
Obtaining Stakes of Imbalance:
Use the Sensor tool near the Lifer to reveal four purple lines leading to four outer maze rooms. Manipulate the board game to open the gates to these rooms. Each room contains a winged statue and a Stake of Imbalance (glowing white). Two rooms require Tacet Discord defeats, one involves breaking Friable Rocks, and one is simply on a table.
Place each Stake of Imbalance in the module in front of its corresponding statue to remove a buff. The purple line will turn yellow once a buff is removed.
Defeating the Lifer
After removing all four removable buffs, engage the Lifer (either by winning the board game or selecting "Fight it out!"). The debuffed Lifer is significantly weaker. Its attacks pose minimal threat.
Rewards for defeating the Lifer:
- First Victory: Premium Supply Chest
- Second Victory: Premium Supply Chest + 3 Basic Supply Chests
- Third Victory: Advanced Supply Chest + 3 Standard Supply Chests
You can re-enable the buffs for a greater challenge, though no achievements are tied to this.
Lifer Achievements:
- The Lifer's Salvation: Defeat the Lifer.
- The Ring of The Lifer: Defeat the Lifer three times (obtain all nine chests).
- Limit of Intelligence: Win the board game against the Lifer.
- Alpha Go: Lose the board game against the Lifer 10 times.
For the board game, focus on blocking the Lifer's moves; it will eventually make a mistake.
