Cyberpunk 2077 Lunar DLC: Unreleased Space Details Revealed

Cyberpunk 2077 enthusiasts might be intrigued to learn that the game was once slated to include an expansive DLC set in the vast expanse of space, specifically on the Moon. This ambitious project, though ultimately shelved, was brought to light by blogger and dataminer SirMZK, who meticulously sifted through the game's code to uncover CD Projekt RED's cosmic plans.

Within the game's files, SirMZK discovered references to detailed lunar surface maps, designated zones such as the Exterior Movie Set and Drug Lab, and even a model for a rover. This Moon location was envisioned to be colossal, potentially spanning a quarter of Night City's size, and would have introduced an open-world environment that would have transported players beyond the familiar neon-lit streets into an entirely new realm of gameplay.

One of the highlights of the proposed DLC was the Crystal Palace, an elite space station. Although it didn't make it into the final version of the game, keen-eyed players can spot the Crystal Palace during one of the game's endings, as V gazes out of a spaceship window. Moreover, the files revealed a prototype for a zero-gravity bar associated with a cut quest called "201," which was intricately linked to the Arasaka storyline.

The Cyberpunk community remains hopeful that some of these innovative ideas may find their way into CD Projekt RED's next venture, Orion, which aims to further expand the Cyberpunk universe. However, the studio has yet to officially confirm whether these concepts will be revisited.

Although the Moon DLC remains a dream unfulfilled, the unearthed details offer a captivating glimpse into what could have been—a daring leap for Cyberpunk 2077 into uncharted territories, seamlessly blending space exploration with the game's distinctive cyberpunk style.
