While pursuing the enigmatic dragon in *Monster Hunter Wilds*, you'll encounter a fierce battle between Rey Dau and this monster. The dragon, now enraged, has set its sights on your group, making for a thrilling and dangerous encounter. Here's how you can navigate this intense boss fight and even capture Rey Dau.

Rey Dau is the first dragon monster you'll encounter in Monster Hunter Wilds. This creature wields the lightning element, making it immune to it but vulnerable to other elements, particularly water and ice. The most effective place to strike is its head, which has a 4-star weakness. Another good target is the dragon's wings, which have a 3-star weakness.

Avoid attacking its torso as it's highly resilient. If hitting the head is challenging, aim for the tail instead. Hitting the legs isn't advisable due to their strong protection. For status ailments, you can use everything except Stun and Paralysis, as the dragon's lightning element renders these ineffective.

Use a Flash Pod

A strategic approach to quickly subdue Rey Dau involves using a Flash Pod. This tool temporarily stuns the monster, allowing you to land critical hits. When Rey Dau unleashes its lightning attack, aim for its horns, which will be glowing bright red in Focus Mode, to inflict significant damage.

Wear Element-Resistant Gear

Surviving the battle becomes easier with gear that enhances your elemental resistance. The Hope Armor set, with its Divine Blessing skill, reduces damage and offers resistance to Lightning and Fire, making it perfect for this fight. Consider also consuming meals that boost your elemental resistance. If dodging is a challenge, position yourself near Rey Dau's legs, as the monster's primary attacks target the areas in front and behind it.

Pay Attention to the Environment

During the fight, Rey Dau will move between different locations. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps on the lone tree to briefly stun the monster. However, be cautious when the dragon returns to its nest, as it can follow up with a deadly lightning attack that can stun you. Patience is key to avoid being zapped.

How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

In addition to defeating Rey Dau, you can earn rewards by capturing it. To do so, weaken the dragon until it's near death, indicated by a skull icon near its icon on the mini-map. At this point, set a trap to catch it. Given Rey Dau's lightning affinity, avoid using Shock Traps. Instead, opt for a Pitfall Trap and follow up with a Tranquilizer to ensure the creature can't escape. You'll have only a brief window to act, so be prepared.
