  • Backbone and Xbox have collaborated on a new mobile controller
  • The Backbone One: Xbox Edition will be priced at $109.99
  • It showcases Xbox branding and an eye-catching transparent green finish

Xbox has emerged as one of the most prominent advocates for mobile gaming in recent years. The company, along with its parent Microsoft, appears focused on establishing Xbox as an identity rather than simply a platform. It comes as no surprise, then, that they've partnered with gaming accessory maker Backbone to develop a new mobile controller.

The Backbone One: Xbox Edition is set to retail for $109.99 and will be available through the manufacturer and Best Buy Drops. At first glance, the inspiration is clear—the Xbox edition features the familiar XYBA buttons, Xbox branding, and other elements, all wrapped in a sleek semi-transparent green design.

Currently, the Backbone is confirmed to work only with USB-C devices, meaning compatibility with Android phones and potentially future iOS devices if EU legislation mandating USB-C becomes law.

ytIs the price too high?

There’s no denying that the Xbox Edition Backbone looks stylish. As a fan of transparent casings myself—even though my loyalty shifted from Xbox to PlayStation and eventually PC—I can see the appeal for frequent users of Game Pass and similar services.

However, the $100-plus price tag may deter some potential buyers. While a full Xbox console costs significantly more (typically over $400), the asking price for what is essentially a branded accessory could be a sticking point for many.

Even so, it’s hard to ignore Xbox's growing influence in the mobile space. Need proof? Take a look at our list of the top 10 Xbox Game Pass titles for Android!
