Atelier Yumia: Memory Alchemist's Land Synthesis Guide

Authore: AaliyahUpdate:Apr 18,2025

In *Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land*, the Synthesis mechanic is a core element that intertwines with every aspect of gameplay, from resource gathering to weapon crafting. Here's a comprehensive guide to mastering Synthesis and maximizing your gameplay experience.

Synthesis Types in Atelier Yumia

*Atelier Yumia* features three distinct types of Synthesis:

  • Regular Synthesis - Conducted at an Alchemist's altar, this is essential for crafting weapons, armor, battle accessories, magical items, and materials needed for other Synthesis processes. Early in the game, you unlock the Atelier, which serves as your primary hub for regular Synthesis. In areas like cleared manabound zones and campsites, you can build a Simple Altar to enable regular Synthesis on the go.
  • Simple Synthesis - Accessible through the radial menu outside of battle, it allows you to craft items like bandages, gauntlets for ziplines, and repair kits for treasure chests and ladders, provided you have the necessary resources.
  • Building Synthesis - Although not labeled as Synthesis, this mode, accessed via the radial menu on specific plots of land, involves creating storage chests and wall hangings. The game often refers to this process as Synthesis, so keep that in mind to avoid confusion.

How to Synthesize Equipment in Atelier Yumia

Regular Synthesis at the Alchemist's altar is the most intricate part of the mechanic. Here's how to craft equipment like a gun staff for Yumia:

  1. Find the recipe while exploring the game world.
  2. Upgrade existing recipes at a Recipe Recall Station using particles from mana fountains.
  3. At the Alchemist's altar, select the type of gun staff you want to create.
  4. Choose Synthesis Skills if they are unlocked in your skill tree.
  5. Select the initial Alchemy Core (Effects, Quality, or Trait) to build upon:
    • Effects Alchemy Core enhances selected skills.
    • Quality Alchemy Core boosts the quality level of the completed item.
    • Trait Alchemy Core increases the number of Trait Crystal slots available for the item.
  6. Fill the slots of each Alchemy Core with collected resources.
  7. Collect mana fragments to further enhance the item's quality.
  8. Finalize the process to Synthesize the item.

To craft strong items early in the game, unlock Synthesis Skills from the Synthesis section of the skill tree as soon as possible. These skills provide flat damage and quality boosts and allow you to duplicate items, saving resources.

Enhance item quality by adding resources to all three Alchemy Cores. Use the left or right bumper to switch between cores while filling slots. Collecting mana fragments (the yellow sparkles) for all cores significantly increases the item's strength, ideal for most situations except when crafting quest items.

When selecting resources, prioritize those matching the element type of specific slots, identifiable by their blue outline. Organize your resources in the submenu to select higher-quality ones first, though you may want to prioritize effects over quality at times.

If the complexity of manual Synthesis is daunting, opt for the auto-Synthesis option after selecting Synthesis Skills. The game efficiently crafts the best possible item, enabling you to tackle the final boss on Normal difficulty without much hassle.

With these tips, you're well-equipped to leverage the Synthesis mechanic in *Atelier Yumia: The Alchemist of Memories & the Envisioned Land* to its fullest potential.
