Assassin's Creed Shadows Preorders Soaring

Authore: VictoriaUpdate:Feb 20,2025

Ubisoft maintains strong preorder numbers for Assassin's Creed Shadows despite setbacks. The publisher's latest financial report indicates preorders are comparable to those of Assassin's Creed Odyssey, a franchise high-water mark.

CEO Yves Guillemot expressed confidence, emphasizing the company's focus on the March 20th launch. Early previews have been favorable, highlighting the narrative, immersive experience, and the dual protagonist gameplay. Guillemot praised the development team's dedication to delivering the franchise's most ambitious installment.

Originally slated for November, then February 14th, the game's release was delayed to March 20th. The game's success is crucial for Ubisoft, following recent underperforming titles and investor concerns. It marks the long-awaited Japan-setting and the first main Assassin's Creed title since 2020.

The promotional period has faced challenges, including apologies for historical inaccuracies in the game's depiction of Japan and unauthorized use of a historical group's flag. Further controversy arose from the removal of a "insensitive" collectible statue by PureArts. These issues, coupled with the delays, have led to growing fan impatience.
