Download War of Empire Conquest (WOE) Overview
In War of Empire Conquest, one player hosts a match while others join to compete. Players enjoy high freedom by manually controlling all unit and building types.
Main Elements
- Empires: WOE simulates 18 powerful medieval civilizations (including China, Japan, Persia, Teutonic, Mongolian, Gothic, Maya, etc.).
- Units: Each Empire features 8 standard units and 1 unique unit. Standard units are shared across empires, while unique units vary (e.g., Mongol Riders, Persian War Elephants, Spanish Conquistadors).
Standard Units Include:
- Swordsman: A ubiquitous infantry unit.
- Pikeman: Effective against Cavalry but weak to Archers.
- Archers: Strong against Pikemen but vulnerable to Cavalry.
- Light Cavalry: High mobility units ideal for harassment.
- Battering Ram (Aries): Specialized siege engine for attacking buildings.
Buildings:
- Tower, Turret, Castle, Blacksmith Shop, etc.
Towers primarily attack; once 5 farmers are stationed in a Watch Tower, it fires six arrows simultaneously.
Turrets specialize in destroying enemy structures.
Empire Advantages & Disadvantages
Each Empire possesses unique strengths and weaknesses. Below is a brief overview:
- Huns: No housing required, saving time. Cavalry costs 20% less resources and can upgrade to Rangers.
- Teutonic: Powerful warriors similar to Spartans, though they move slowly.
Gameplay Highlights
The core loop involves simultaneous execution of the following tasks after match start:
- Economic Development: Maximize farmer production and resource collection (TCs and Towers can serve as temporary shelters).
- Harassment: Train initial units to disrupt enemy farmers for early advantages.
- Destruction: Eliminate enemy forces.
Cooperation is vital. Players should form legions to defeat superior numbers with inferior force and protect high-damage, low-HP allies.
Unit Counters & Teamwork
Understanding unit values is crucial:
- Pikeman counters Cavalry.
- Cavalry counters Archer.
- Archer counters Pikeman.
- Slave (Camel Rider) counters Cavalry.
- Koryo Carriage counters all ranged units.
Game Modes
The game utilizes two resources: Food and Gold. The Town Center upgrades through Dark Ages, Feudal Age, Castle Age, and Imperial Age to unlock technologies, buildings, and units.
To simplify the complex gameplay, four modes are available (Common and Emperor being most popular):
- Normal Mode: Limited resources requiring prioritized development. Early-game harassment is key. Complex but highly engaging.
- Imperial Deathmatch: Players start directly in the Imperial Age with abundant resources for immediate intense combat.
Main Features
Running successfully in China for four years, WOE (now version 1.8.n) offers:
- Player vs CPU
- Network Multiplayer
- Spectator Mode
- Replay System
- Map Editor
- Legion Functionality
- Friends List
- In-Game Chat
