"Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom to Support Cloud Saves"

Authore: BellaUpdate:May 06,2025

Nintendo has officially confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom will indeed support cloud saves, much to the relief of fans. Initially, there was confusion and concern when Nintendo's website displayed a disclaimer stating that the game would not support the Nintendo Switch Online paid membership’s Save Data Cloud backup feature. However, Nintendo has since updated the information on their site, clarifying the situation.

The revised disclaimer now reads: "Save data created in the second save data slot in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition cannot be transferred to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom on Nintendo Switch." This means that players will be able to transfer their existing saves from the original Nintendo Switch to the Switch 2, but transferring saves from the Switch 2 back to the original console will not be possible. This clarification was first reported by Eurogamer.

Interestingly, the page for Donkey Kong Bananza has removed all references to cloud saves, leaving fans of that game in the dark about its save functionality. Meanwhile, the page for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition now includes a similar message regarding save transfers, indicating a consistent policy across these enhanced versions of popular Switch titles.

In other news, pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 have gone live, maintaining a price point of $449.99. The response has been as enthusiastic as anticipated. For those interested, IGN has a comprehensive Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide to help navigate the process.
