Rumor: Halo: MCC and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Headed to PS5 and Switch 2 in 2025
A recent report from industry insider NateTheHate suggests that Halo: The Master Chief Collection could be making its way to the PlayStation 5 and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. The same source claims a 2025 release window for these versions of the six-game compilation. This follows Microsoft's February 2024 initiative to expand the availability of its first-party titles to other platforms. Previous releases under this strategy include Pentiment, Hi-Fi Rush, Grounded, and Sea of Thieves, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny also joining the multi-platform lineup.
Microsoft Flight Simulator's Potential Multi-Platform Future
NateTheHate further speculates that Microsoft Flight Simulator will also see a release on PS5 and Switch 2, likely referring to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, released November 19th. He suggests a 2025 launch window for this title as well.
More Xbox Games to Go Multi-Platform in 2025
This information is supported by another prominent leaker, Jez Corden, who tweeted that significantly more Xbox games will be released on PS5 and Switch 2. Corden has consistently voiced the opinion that the era of exclusive Xbox titles is ending.
The future multi-platform release of Call of Duty is also almost certain, following a ten-year agreement with Nintendo announced in late 2022. The lack of Switch releases to date may be attributed to Microsoft awaiting the release of the more powerful Switch 2, better equipped to handle modern, graphically demanding titles like Call of Duty.
