NieR: Automata's opening throws players into 2B's initial mission. After deploying your flight unit and engaging in melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a two-handed sword.

The two-handed weapon, the Virtuous Treaty, is a powerful early-game sword temporarily lost after the prologue. However, it's quickly recoverable once free-roaming is unlocked in the subsequent chapter.

  1. Where To Find the Virtuous Treaty in NieR: Automata

This early-game weapon is easily accessible near your starting point after leaving the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. Locate the highway to the left of the nearest access point. Proceed towards the highway, using the ruins to climb onto the road. This path leads back towards the factory.

Descend to the factory and follow the grassy path to the main structure. An access point and stairs leading upward are situated on the left. At the top, look left towards the destroyed bridge where you encountered the Goliath-class enemy. The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the bridge's edge.

Your discarded body, containing prologue consumables, is located just to the right of the sword.

  1. Virtuous Treaty Stats in NieR: Automata

  • Attack Power: 300-330
  • Combo: Light 2, Heavy 2

Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels at wide-sweeping attacks, dealing significant damage to multiple enemies. Its attack speed is notably slower. However, upgrades can potentially make it one of the game's highest-damage weapons, provided you adapt to its slower pace. You can also incorporate it into combos with faster weapons by using a heavy attack during a quicker weapon's sequence. While this prevents a full Virtuous Treaty combo, it leverages its high damage output to compensate for its slower speed.
