S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl – Q2 2025 Roadmap
Quarterly Updates Confirmed
GSC Gameworld has confirmed a structured development cycle with updates rolling out every three months. On April 14, the official STALKER 2 Twitter (X) account shared the latest roadmap, outlining the studio’s commitment to ongoing support and improvement. The team will deliver detailed updates every quarter, accompanied by official patch notes to confirm implementation of planned features.
Following a series of major fixes and hotfixes in Q1 2025, the developers are continuing to refine the game based on community feedback. The Q2 2025 roadmap highlights the following key updates:
● Beta Mod SDK Kit
● A-Life and AI Improvements
● New Mutant Loot System
● Shader Compilation Skip Option
● Expanded Player Stash Capacity
● Wide Screen Aspect Ratio Support
● 2 New Weapons
● Ongoing Stabilization, Optimization & Anomaly Fixes
● Next-Gen Update for STALKER Original Trilogy
Beta Mod SDK and A-Life System Upgrades
A major highlight of the Q2 roadmap is the introduction of the Beta Mod SDK Kit, which will enter a closed beta phase with select mod creators before public release. This move signals GSC Gameworld’s strong support for the modding community. The studio also plans to integrate Mod.io and Steam Workshop, making mod discovery and installation more seamless for players.
The A-Life system, which governs NPC and mutant behavior, will see significant enhancements. Building on the massive 110 GB Christmas update from late 2024, the team is implementing persistent A-Life improvements and smarter combat AI. Upcoming changes include more tactical human enemy behavior—such as improved use of cover, flanking maneuvers, and limited grenade usage—making encounters more dynamic and realistic.
Mutants will also receive behavioral upgrades: they’ll now consume corpses and react to nearby threats, adding another layer of immersion to the Zone’s ecosystem. Additional features include mutant loot drops, the ability to skip shader compilation at launch, an increased player stash window size, and support for wide screen aspect ratios.
Two new weapons will be introduced, though details remain under wraps. The development team is also focused on further stabilization, performance optimization, and fixing issues related to anomalies—ensuring a smoother, more immersive experience.
As a special treat for long-time fans, GSC Gameworld is preparing a next-gen update for the original STALKER trilogy. More information will be shared as the release date approaches.
