Embark on the "For Science!" Side Quest in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl

Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl's expansive Zone is teeming with NPCs, many of whom initiate quests, ranging from small tasks to substantial side missions like "For Science!". This mission begins with a rendezvous between Skif and Yaryk Mongoose, who tasks the player with activating a second measuring device atop a silo. While brief, completing it rewards players with a Malachite pass, granting access to the STC Malachite facilities.

Initiating the "For Science!" Quest

The quest starts within the Central Elevator area of the Chemical Plant. Upon approaching, Mongoose will contact Skif via radio, requesting a meeting. Inside the Central Elevator, proceed left, past the conveyor belts, and ascend the rusty stairs. Mongoose is located on the first floor; simply vault the railing to reach him.

He'll explain the need to activate a second device on a nearby silo, requiring simultaneous activation of both. Agreeing to his request officially begins the "For Science!" mission.

Reaching the Silo's Summit

Exit the room and climb to the building's roof. Eliminate any rodents encountered. A room with broken windows provides access to an external walkway and ladder. Descend the ladder, jump to the silo walkway, and equip your boltcaster to counter electro anomalies. Proceed left along the silo's top to locate and activate the second device.

Activating the device will attract a pack of Bloodsuckers. Choose to eliminate them or evade them to return to Mongoose.

Confronting Yaryk Mongoose

Upon returning, Mongoose will explain the experiment's unintended consequences. Players can choose to kill Mongoose for endangering Skif or accept the reward and depart. Neither choice impacts subsequent gameplay. Killing Mongoose allows looting the Malachite pass from his corpse.

However, the recommended approach is to listen to Mongoose's explanation and choose the peaceful option. This yields the Malachite Pass and additional coupons. The pass grants access to the STC Malachite base, unless already accessible through main missions.
