Spider-Man Battles Godzilla in Epic Showdown

Get ready for a colossal clash! Marvel Comics is unleashing a new series of one-shot crossover specials pitting Godzilla against some of its most iconic heroes. IGN exclusively reveals the third installment: Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1.

Following Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 and Godzilla vs. Hulk #1, this issue throws Spider-Man into a retro showdown, set shortly after the events of 1984's Secret Wars. Peter Parker, still grappling with the alien symbiote, will need every ounce of his power to defend New York City from the King of the Monsters.

Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 boasts a stellar creative team: Joe Kelly (the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man relaunch) on writing duties, Nick Bradshaw (known for Wolverine and the X-Men) on art, and cover art by Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land.

"The moment I heard about an '80s-set Godzilla/Spidey crossover, I practically jumped for it," Kelly shared with IGN. "This book's a chance to unleash pure mayhem with two legendary characters, capturing the chaotic energy of my Spider-Man collecting days. Nick Bradshaw perfectly embodies the absurdity, while giving Godzilla and Spidey (in his totally-normal-black-suit!) the gravitas they deserve. It's a love letter delivered with an earth-shattering roar!"

This isn't the first superhero-Godzilla crossover; DC's Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong (with a sequel in the works) featured the MonsterVerse versions. However, Marvel's series focuses on the classic Toho Godzilla. This announcement follows the unveiling of IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, a charity anthology benefiting wildfire relief.
