Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Release Date Announced

Get ready for more Sonic! Paramount Pictures has slated Sonic the Hedgehog 4 for a March 19, 2027 release, according to Variety. This announcement comes two years after the phenomenal success of Sonic the Hedgehog 3.

The third installment raked in a remarkable $218 million domestically and over $420 million globally, solidifying its position as the highest-grossing film in the franchise. This impressive box office performance, especially considering the initial design controversy surrounding the first film, clearly paved the way for a sequel.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 also achieved the distinction of being the second highest-grossing video game movie in North America, trailing only the Super Mario Bros. Movie, continuing the epic rivalry between Nintendo and Sega on the big screen.

The live-action Sonic universe continues to expand, boasting three feature films and a Knuckles-centric spin-off series. The films, based on the beloved Sega games, follow Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz) as he battles his arch-nemesis, Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey). Each film has introduced more iconic characters, including Tails (Colleen O'Shaughnessey) and Knuckles (Idris Elba), with Sonic 3 finally introducing Shadow the Hedgehog (Keanu Reeves).
