The Pokémon TCG is bringing back beloved features from its early days! A major announcement at the 2024 Pokémon World Championships revealed the return of "Trainer's Pokémon" cards in 2025.

Trainer's Pokémon and Team Rocket Cards Return

A teaser trailer showcased Trainer's Pokémon cards featuring Lillie's Clefairy ex, Marnie's Grimmsnarl ex, N's Zoroark ex, and N's Reshiram. These cards, a staple of the original TCG, feature unique abilities and artwork.

The trailer also teased a possible Team Rocket comeback, showing Mewtwo alongside the Team Rocket symbol. This fuels speculation about a new Team Rocket-themed set and the potential return of Dark Pokémon, another popular early mechanic. While unconfirmed, rumors, including a Japanese retailer listing and a trademark filing for "The Glory of Team Rocket," suggest this is a strong possibility.

Paradise Dragona Set Unveiled

The 2024 World Championships also previewed the upcoming Paradise Dragona set, a Japanese subset featuring Latias, Latios, Exeggcute, and Alolan Exeggutor ex. These cards are slated for a November 2024 English release as part of the Surging Sparks set.
