Pokémon TCG Pocket is undergoing significant changes to its trading system, addressing player concerns about accessibility and restrictions. The biggest change? Trade Tokens are being completely removed. They're replaced by Shinedust, a new currency earned by opening booster packs containing cards already in your Card Dex. Existing Trade Tokens will be automatically converted to Shinedust.
This shift aims to streamline trading, making it easier to exchange cards. However, Shinedust will also be used for obtaining flair, and further adjustments to its functionality are planned. An upcoming update will also introduce an in-game sharing feature, allowing players to easily advertise cards they're willing to trade.
The initial trading system was criticized for its complexity and limitations, stemming from the need to balance in-game trading with the prevention of abuse inherent in a digital environment. While these changes are welcomed, the implementation timeline stretches into autumn, suggesting a slower-than-desired resolution for players.
