Elden Ring's Switch 2 Edition Introduces New Classes

Authore: SkylarUpdate:Dec 19,2025

Elden Ring is set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 as the Tarnished Edition, bringing fresh additions including new character classes and alternative appearances for Torrent, the spirit steed.

According to a report from Famitsu, FromSoftware hosted its "FROMSOFTWARE GAMES EVENT Spring 2025" in Tokyo on May 6. The event unveiled more about Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, introducing two brand-new character classes.

As translated by RPG Site, these classes are the "Knight of Ides" and the "Heavy Armored Knight." Details appear limited beyond their names and visual designs. Both armor sets are reportedly part of the four new sets included in the Tarnished Edition, with the remaining two obtainable through gameplay. The presentation also teased additional weapons and skills.

For players devoted to their mount, Torrent will receive three new cosmetic looks. While these extras are bundled into Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition—which also includes the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion—FromSoftware confirmed they'll be released on other platforms via the Tarnished Pack DLC. RPG Site notes the developer described the DLC as low-cost.

New starting classes offer a welcome twist, particularly useful for players beginning fresh on the Switch 2. These additions provide an incentive for veterans who have already experienced Elden Ring on other systems.

Elden Ring continues to reach a massive audience, with global sales surpassing 30 million copies. This remarkable milestone will likely grow further once the game debuts on Nintendo's next-generation console.

No specific launch date has been announced for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on Switch 2 or for the Tarnished Pack DLC, though both are expected to arrive sometime in 2025.
