The most impressive trailer from the recent State of Play showcase was undoubtedly the new entry in the Onimusha franchise. Onimusha: Way of the Sword unveiled its protagonist, Miyamoto Musashi, strikingly modeled after the legendary Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune.
The trailer depicts Musashi's valiant, and occasionally humorous, battles against demons invading Kyoto from the underworld. The narrative reveals Musashi's transformation into an Oni Gauntlet wielder, empowered by his faith to combat these creatures and absorb their souls for health regeneration and special abilities.
A remastered trailer for Onimusha 2 was also shown, providing a stark visual comparison that underscores the remarkable advancements in gaming graphics over the years.
