Nintendo's Latest Collaboration: A LEGO Game Boy!
Get ready for a blast from the past! Nintendo has just announced a new partnership with LEGO, resulting in a highly anticipated LEGO Game Boy set. Launching October 2025, this marks LEGO's second foray into recreating iconic Nintendo consoles, following the successful NES release.
While this exciting news delights LEGO and Nintendo enthusiasts alike, it's sparked a flurry of speculation online about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. Many Twitter (X) users humorously interpreted the announcement as a substitute for the long-awaited sequel reveal.
Although details regarding the Switch 2 remain scarce, Nintendo President Furukawa confirmed in May 2024 that an announcement is forthcoming within their fiscal year (ending March). Patience is key as fans eagerly await further information. Pricing for the LEGO Game Boy has yet to be disclosed, but expect further details soon.
A History of Nintendo and LEGO Collaborations
This LEGO Game Boy isn't the first time Nintendo and LEGO have teamed up. Previous collaborations have brought beloved characters from Super Mario, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda (TLZ) to life in brick form.
Last May 2024 saw the release of a stunning 2,500-piece LEGO set featuring the Great Deku Tree from Ocarina of Time and Breath of the Wild. This impressive set, priced at $299.99 USD, also includes Princess Zelda and the Master Sword.
Following closely in June 2024, a unique Super Mario World LEGO set debuted, showcasing a pixelated Mario riding Yoshi. A rotating crank animates Yoshi's leg, adding an interactive element to this $129.99 USD collectible.
