Mother Nature: EcoDash, a new endless runner for Android, tackles environmental pollution head-on. Developed by BOM (Birmingham Open Media), a UK-based immersive arts organization, this game is a unique collaboration. Eleven to eighteen-year-old girls from Powered by CAN, a youth project, significantly contributed to the game's design, influencing everything from its visual style to its gameplay mechanics.
What Makes Mother Nature: EcoDash Stand Out?
Players embody Mother Nature, a Black female scientist racing against time to cleanse the city and rescue animals from the clutches of Smog, a villain dedicated to environmental destruction. The gameplay involves outrunning pollution, collecting air purifiers, and managing a smog meter to avoid being consumed by toxic clouds.
Beyond the core running and jumping mechanics, EcoDash incorporates rescue missions. Players encounter endangered animals throughout the city and must guide them to safety in the rainforest, restoring them to their natural habitat.
BOM's objective was to create a fun and engaging experience to educate players about climate change and air pollution. The game features various power-ups, shields, and bonus items to enhance gameplay.
