Marvel Snap Deck Guide: September 2024 Edition
This month's Marvel Snap (Free) deck guide arrives a bit early to compensate for last month's delay. A new season brings fresh cards and shifts the meta. While last month saw a period of relative balance, the new additions are shaking things up. Remember, today's top deck might be obsolete tomorrow! This guide offers a snapshot of current top performers, but continuous experimentation is key.
Most decks listed assume a complete card collection. Five top-tier decks are featured, alongside a couple of more accessible and fun alternatives.
The Young Avengers haven't significantly impacted the meta, with Kate Bishop remaining consistent and Marvel Boy boosting 1-cost decks. However, the new Amazing Spider-Season and the "Activate" ability are game-changers, promising a dramatically different meta next month.
Top-Tier Decks
1. Kazar and Gilgamesh
Cards: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird
This surprisingly strong deck utilizes low-cost cards buffed by Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy provides extra buffs, while Gilgamesh benefits greatly from the overall strategy. Kate Bishop helps fill locations and reduce Mockingbird's cost.
2. Silver Surfer Still Reigns Supreme, Part II
Cards: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool
A refined Silver Surfer deck incorporating balance changes and new cards. The classic Nova/Killmonger combo boosts cards, Forge enhances Brood clones, Gwenpool buffs hand cards, Shaw gains power, Hope provides energy, Cassandra Nova steals power, and Surfer/Absorbing Man secure victory. Copycat replaces Red Guardian as a versatile tool.
3. Spectrum and Man-Thing Ongoing Domination
Cards: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum
The Ongoing archetype shines with Spectrum's end-game buff. The Luke Cage/Man-Thing synergy is potent, and Luke protects against US Agent. This accessible deck is easy to play, and Cosmo's utility is expected to increase.
4. Discard Dracula's Reign
Cards: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse
A classic Apocalypse-style Discard deck, enhanced by the buffed Moon Knight. Morbius and Dracula are key cards, aiming for a final-turn Apocalypse play, resulting in a powerful Dracula and widespread Morbius effects.
5. The Unstoppable Destroy Deck
Cards: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death
A near-classic Destroy deck, Attuma's recent buff makes him a valuable addition. The strategy focuses on destroying Deadpool and Wolverine, gaining extra energy with X-23, and finishing with Nimrod or Knull. Arnim Zola's absence reflects the increasing prevalence of counter-measures.
Fun & Accessible Decks
6. The Darkhawk Revival
Cards: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature
A fun deck built around Darkhawk, utilizing classic combos with Korg and Rockslide. It incorporates spoiler cards like Spider-Ham and Cassandra Nova, along with discard effects and a low-cost Stature.
7. Budget-Friendly Kazar
Cards: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught
A beginner-friendly version of the Kazar deck, teaching the core combo mechanics. While less consistently victorious than the top-tier version, it provides valuable experience with Kazar, Blue Marvel, and Onslaught.
The September meta is dynamic. The "Activate" ability and Symbiote Spider-Man will significantly impact October's meta. Keep an eye out for balance changes and continue experimenting to stay ahead of the curve! Happy Snapping!
