Marvel Rivals Reverses Controversial Mid-Season Rank Reset Decision
Following significant player backlash, Marvel Rivals has reversed its decision to implement mid-season rank resets. The developer announced the change in Dev Talk 11, a swift response to the negative reception of Dev Talk 10, which detailed the planned four-division rank drop midway through the season.
The initial plan, proposing resets every 45 days, proved unpopular with players striving for higher ranks. In a significant about-face, Marvel Rivals confirmed that no mid-season rank reset will occur. Players will retain their existing ranks and scores from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season reset, resulting in a six-division drop, remains in place.
Human Torch, The Thing, and Other Updates Remain
Despite the rank reset reversal, other planned updates are proceeding as scheduled. The highly anticipated addition of Human Torch and The Thing, expanding the hero roster to 39, is still on track for release. NetEase Games' commitment to releasing two new characters per three-month season remains unchanged.
Reward structures for players reaching Gold rank and above also remain unaffected. Players achieving Gold rank or higher will receive a free Invisible Woman costume, while Grandmaster and above will receive Crests of Honor. Further rewards, including another free costume and Crests of Honor for Grandmaster and above, will be awarded at the end of the season. Balance adjustments are also planned, though specifics are yet to be revealed.
