The trend of remaking classic video games has captured the attention of the gaming world, with titles like Final Fantasy VII, Silent Hill 2, and Resident Evil 4 leading the charge. Joining this prestigious list could be the original Devil May Cry (DMC), as its creator, Hideki Kamiya, has voiced his interest in reimagining the game.

Originally launched in 2001, Devil May Cry emerged from what was initially intended to be Resident Evil 4. However, significant shifts in its development led Capcom to birth DMC as a distinct entity.

Reflecting on the game's origins nearly 25 years later, Kamiya shared a personal anecdote that fueled the game's creation. In 2000, after experiencing a painful breakup, he channeled his emotions into the development of DMC, turning his heartache into a groundbreaking action-adventure game.

Kamiya admits he never revisits his completed games, including DMC. Yet, when he occasionally encounters gameplay clips, he's reminded of the game's age and its classic design. Should a remake be greenlit, he envisions constructing it anew, incorporating contemporary technology and game design philosophies.

Although not currently focused on the project, Kamiya remains open to the idea, stating, "But if the time comes— I’ll come up with something. That’s what I do." Beyond DMC, he also harbors ambitions to remake Viewtiful Joe. These announcements have sparked excitement among fans, eagerly anticipating the potential return of these cherished titles in a modernized form.
