Phasmophobia Horror Game Secures Blumhouse Film Adaptation

Phasmophobia Haunts Its Way to Hollywood

Kinetic Games' breakout ghost-hunting phenomenon Phasmophobia is getting the silver screen treatment through a partnership with horror powerhouse Blumhouse Productions (Five Nights at Freddy's, The Conjuring, M3gan). The film adaptation is currently in early development, with creative team details yet to be announced.

A Paranormal Success Story

"This marks a pivotal moment for our studio," said Kinetic Games director Daniel Knight. "When we launched in early access five years ago, we never imagined Phasmophobia would become a genre-defining hit. Our incredible community made this possible, and collaborating with Blumhouse and Atomic Monster opens thrilling new possibilities as we expand the franchise."

The cooperative horror title has sold over 23 million copies since its 2020 debut, pioneering the ghost investigation genre with its tense multiplayer gameplay. Players work together using specialized equipment to identify supernatural entities in haunted locations.

What's Coming for the Ghost-Hunting Phenomenon?

Kinetic Games continues to support Phasmophobia with major updates - the upcoming Chronicle overhaul will revamp evidence collection, journal systems, and progression mechanics. Meanwhile Blumhouse, fresh off the Five Nights at Freddy's adaptation (which IGN rated 4/10), prepares to bring the paranormal investigation experience to theaters.

The game previously earned a spot on IGN's 25 Best Horror Games of All Time list. Do you think it deserves its place among horror greats?
