The March 2025 update for *Fields of Mistria* introduced Essence Stones, essential for various new in-game features that enhance daily tasks. These stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large, each serving different purposes and requiring different resources to obtain or craft.

After the March 2025 update, Essence Stones can be found inside chests scattered throughout the mines in *Fields of Mistria*. I stumbled upon my first one while searching for items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60, but these chests can appear on any level across different biomes and floors. Be cautious, though; some chests might be mimics that can harm you upon interaction.
Essence Stones vary in size, with smaller ones being more common. If you're struggling to find them, consider crafting them once you've built the Stone Refinery within the mines.

To craft Essence Stones in *Fields of Mistria*, you'll need to construct the Stone Refinery inside the mines, a task introduced with the March 2025 update. This involves a new story quest where Adeline enlists your help, along with Olric and Errol, to build the refinery from scratch.
Here’s what you’ll need to build the Stone Refinery:
- x200 Wood
- x400 Stone
- x5,000 Tesserae
Once the refinery is operational, you can craft Essence Stones of different sizes using Stone and Essence. The crafting requirements vary based on the size of the stone:
**Tiny Essence Stone** | x5 Stone x5 Essence |
**Small Essence Stone** | x10 Stone x25 Essence |
**Medium Essence Stone** | x20 Stone x50 Essence |
**Large Essence Stone** | x40 Stone x100 Essence |
In addition to Essence Stones, the Stone Refinery also allows you to craft other materials like Refined Stone, Obsidian, and Diamond, making it a versatile hub for your crafting needs in Mistria.
How To Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria
With the March 2025 update, *Fields of Mistria* introduced the auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics, both of which rely on Essence Stones to function. Larger stones provide a longer-lasting charge, with Large Essence Stones offering the most extended use.

The auto-petter mechanic is linked to the Animal Sprite Statue, which you can place in Large Barns and Coops. When equipped with an Essence Stone, it automatically pets all animals inside daily. You can find this statue in a concealed cave next to Errol’s house in the Narrows, accessible with the Dragon’s Breath spell. Once unlocked, you can craft additional statues as needed.
The sprinkler mechanic, on the other hand, is unlocked with the Water Sprite Statue. This can be placed anywhere on your farm to water crops within a 2-tile radius when powered by an Essence Stone. You can find the statue and a crafting scroll on a small island east of the beach, beyond the Lighthouse area. Access this island by swimming and using Dragon’s Breath on the entrance.
As *Fields of Mistria* continues to evolve with updates from NPC Studio, Essence Stones are likely to find even more uses, enhancing the gameplay experience.
