Fallout 76 Season 20 introduces an exciting new feature that allows players to transform into a Ghoul and navigate the radiation-filled landscapes of Appalachia. Dive into the details of this update and discover the new level 50 character boost that's now available.
Fallout 76 Season 20 Out Now
Unleash the Ghoul Within
The latest update for Fallout 76, titled "The Ghoul Within," is now live, as announced by Bethesda on their website on March 18. This season brings a host of ghoul-related features, mechanics, and new cosmetics to enhance your C.A.M.P. Players can now undergo Ghoulification by completing the "Leap of Faith" questline, which leads to a new area in the Savage Divide and introduces you to characters who aid in your transformation.
As a Ghoul, players gain access to unique abilities such as Glow and Feral, along with 30 new Ghoul-exclusive Perks, known as "Gherks." The Feral ability replaces traditional hunger and thirst mechanics with a Feral meter that, when at 0%, dramatically alters gameplay by boosting melee damage by 150% while reducing Endurance, Charisma, Max HP, Max AP, and gun accuracy. On the other hand, the Glow ability allows players to consume radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations, increasing maximum health, and healing damage. This ability also enhances the effectiveness of Gherks.
Players can choose from 28 perks and two new legendary perks designed specifically for Ghouls. Note that perks related to Hunger, Thirst, and Chem Resistance are not available to Ghouls, as these are not relevant to their new state.
A Day In The Life of A Ghoul
Navigating the wasteland as a Ghoul comes with its advantages, thanks to the new abilities and Gherks. However, it also presents challenges, such as hostility from factions like the Brotherhood of Steel, which may restrict access to certain questlines. Fortunately, a new NPC named Jaye offers disguises that allow Ghouls to interact with content that would otherwise be inaccessible.
If the Ghoul life doesn't suit you, you can revert to being human via the Character Screen. However, this is a one-way decision, as you cannot redo the "Leap of Faith" questline. To become a Ghoul again, you'll need to purchase the Ghoul Retransformation for 1000 Atoms on the Character Screen.
Level 50 Character Boost and Season 20 Patch Notes
With the Season 20 update, players can now purchase a Level 50 Character Boost for 1500 Atoms. This boost is perfect for both new and veteran players, providing immediate access to multiplayer features like Daily Ops, Public Events, and select story content.
The update also includes various bug fixes, balance adjustments, accessibility improvements, combat tweaks, and weapon damage changes. Bethesda has also teased the upcoming "The Big Bloom" update, set for April 29, as part of their season calendar.
Since its launch in November 2018, Fallout 76 has overcome its initial challenges and now boasts a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam, with 76% of reviews being positive. The game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
