Final Fantasy 14 Is Making A Change To Chaotic Raid Rewards

Responding to player feedback, Final Fantasy XIV Patch 7.16 will introduce a Clouddark Demimateria exchange system. This update, launching January 21st, 2025, addresses concerns regarding the acquisition of high-demand items from the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid.

The core change allows players to convert excess Clouddark Demimateria 1 into Clouddark Demimateria 2, facilitating purchases of sought-after rewards like the "A Half Times Two" hairstyle and the "Dais of Darkness" mount. While the exact exchange rate remains undisclosed, this adjustment aims to improve accessibility to these items, which currently require a significant number of Demimateria 2. Both the mount and hairstyle are also available on the Market Board, suggesting potential price fluctuations following the patch.

The December 24th introduction of the Cloud of Darkness (Chaotic) Alliance Raid, featuring mechanics reminiscent of the Shadowbringers' Eden raids, yielded Clouddark Demimateria 1 and 2 as rewards. The current reward structure, however, proved problematic for many players.

Square Enix emphasizes that this alteration is a direct response to community feedback, and further adjustments to the Demimateria system or future raid content are possible based on ongoing player input. Patch 7.16 also includes the final installment of the Dawntrail Role Quest series, while major job balance updates are anticipated in Patch 7.2.
