Self-Publishing for Maximum Profitability

In a statement to Eurogamer, Pearl Abyss confirmed its self-publishing strategy for Crimson Desert. This decision, previously revealed during a quarterly earnings call, prioritizes maximizing profitability. While acknowledging and appreciating its business partners, Pearl Abyss emphasized its ongoing discussions regarding various collaborative ventures.

November Showcase and Uncertain Release Date

The developer also clarified that no official release date has been set, dismissing recent speculation. A playable build of Crimson Desert will be showcased to media this week in Paris, followed by a public demonstration at G-Star in November.

September investor meetings revealed Sony's attempt to secure a PS5 exclusive deal, potentially excluding Xbox for a period. However, Pearl Abyss's self-publishing strategy, deemed more lucrative, prevailed.

While the final platform lineup and release date remain unconfirmed, a PC, PlayStation, and Xbox launch is anticipated around Q2 2025.
