ReFantazio: Transformative Series Set to Captivate

Hashino, when discussing future projects, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

While there are no immediate plans to create a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel, Hashino emphasized his commitment to completing the current project. He revealed that the game was initially conceived as the third major JRPG series for Atlus, following Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, and aims for it to become a flagship title.

Despite earlier statements ruling out a direct sequel, the team is already working on their next project, which is unlikely to be Metaphor: ReFantazio 2. However, an anime adaptation is under consideration. Metaphor: ReFantazio is currently Atlus' most successful platform launch, boasting a peak concurrent player count exceeding 85,961, surpassing the launch numbers of Persona 5 Royal (35,474) and Persona 3 Reload (45,002). The game is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
