Atlus producer Kazushi Wada reiterates the unlikelihood of Persona 3 Portable's female protagonist (FeMC), Kotone Shiomi/Minako Arisato, appearing in Persona 3 Reload. This decision, according to Wada, stems from significant development hurdles and budgetary constraints.
High Costs and Development Time Prevent FeMC Inclusion
Wada, in a recent PC Gamer interview, clarified that while the inclusion of the FeMC was initially considered—even during the planning stages of the post-launch DLC, Episode Aigis - The Answer—the project's scope and cost proved insurmountable. The development time and expense would have been far too substantial, rendering it unfeasible within the current timeframe. Even DLC release was deemed impractical.
Persona 3 Reload, a remake of the 2006 JRPG, launched in February. The omission of the popular FeMC has disappointed many fans. Wada's statements definitively quell hopes for future inclusion, stating that it's "likely never going to happen." He previously echoed this sentiment in a Famitsu interview, emphasizing that adding the FeMC would require significantly more time and resources than the Episode Aigis DLC.
Despite fan anticipation for the FeMC's presence, either at launch or as post-release content, Wada's comments confirm its infeasibility. The challenges and costs associated with her integration far outweigh the potential benefits, effectively closing the door on this possibility.
