People Can Fly, the acclaimed developer behind Bulletstorm and co-developer of the much-anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, has inked a significant deal with Sony Interactive Entertainment. The agreement centers on the creation of a new game, codenamed Project Delta, which will be developed as a work-for-hire project. While the specifics of Project Delta remain under wraps, this collaboration marks another exciting venture for the studio.
Currently, People Can Fly is juggling an impressive lineup of projects, each with its own unique codename. Among these is Project Gemini, developed in partnership with Square Enix, which unfortunately saw the layoff of 30 developers last year. Another project, Project Echo, is being crafted alongside Krafton, while Project Red also appears to be connected with Sony. Additionally, the studio recently announced that Project Bison would be its last foray into VR gaming.
In a series of strategic moves, People Can Fly suspended work on Project Victoria last December and scaled down efforts on Project Bifrost. Earlier in April, the studio decided to cancel Project Dagger, an action-adventure title that was set to be developed in collaboration with Take-Two Interactive.
Despite these adjustments, People Can Fly remains busy with a total of eight known projects in development. This includes the highly anticipated Gears of War: E-Day, a collaboration with The Coalition, though a release date for this title has yet to be disclosed. Meanwhile, Project Gemini, in partnership with Square Enix, is slated for a 2026 release.
As People Can Fly continues to navigate its expansive portfolio, the gaming community eagerly awaits further details on Project Delta and the studio's other innovative projects.
