Netflix has enlisted T.S. Nowlin, renowned for his contributions to the Maze Runner series and Netflix's Project Adam, to write the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad, who was previously involved in adapting Sifu's narrative, might still be part of the project, his exact role remains uncertain at this time.
Enhancing the project's allure, Chad Stahelski, the visionary behind the John Wick franchise, and his production company, 87Eleven Entertainment, have come on board as executive producers. Stahelski is also lending his talents to another much-anticipated video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima, showcasing his growing influence in the genre.
Since its release in 2022, Sifu has captured the gaming world's attention, surpassing one million sales within just three weeks. The game centers on a young martial artist's quest for vengeance following their master's murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that revives them after death but ages them significantly, the protagonist navigates a perilous path filled with danger and mystery, making it a perfect fit for a dramatic film adaptation.
