In the latest "here comes a new remake" news—or, if you're a bit more optimistic, "here comes another Stephen King movie" news—a brand new adaptation of Cujo is about to bare its teeth.
Netflix is gearing up to produce a new film version of Stephen King's gripping tale, according to Deadline. The project is in its early stages, with Vertigo Entertainment founder and producer Roy Lee attached to bring this chilling story to life. However, there are no writers, directors, or cast members confirmed yet, signaling that things are truly in their puppy days.
Originally published in 1981, King's novel Cujo was swiftly adapted into a 1983 cult classic horror movie. The screenplay, penned by Don Carlos Dunaway and Barbara Turner, was directed by Lewis Teague. The plot centers around a devoted mother, portrayed by Dee Wallace, who faces a harrowing ordeal to protect her young son from a rabid dog. After their car breaks down, the duo finds themselves trapped inside, battling not only the relentless Cujo—who turned deadly after being bitten by a rabid bat—but also the looming threat of heatstroke as the beast stalks them from outside.
