GTA 6 Special Edition: Up to $150 Price Tag Revealed

Take-Two Interactive, the publisher behind the Grand Theft Auto franchise, was a driving force behind the industry shift towards $70 AAA game pricing. Concerns are rising that this trend might continue, and even escalate, with the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI.

While a standard edition of GTA VI might remain in the $70 range, avoiding a jump to $80-$100, reports from various insiders suggest a premium, possibly $100-$150, special edition could be offered, potentially including early access.

Tez2, a prominent industry insider, further notes that, unlike previous titles, GTA VI's online component will be sold separately at launch, with the story mode bundled into a "complete package" encompassing both.

This separate online component significantly impacts pricing. The question becomes: how much will the online portion cost independently? And what will be the price for story mode access for those who purchase the standalone GTA VI Online?

A lower price point for the online version could attract players unable to afford the full $70 or $80 game, with Take-Two potentially profiting from subsequent upgrades to access the story mode. This strategy also creates a revenue stream from players who want the story mode but can't afford the upgrade immediately.

Take-Two could further capitalize on this by offering a subscription model similar to Xbox Game Pass, through GTA+. Players opting for continuous gameplay via subscription, rather than saving for an upgrade, would generate consistent revenue, further solidifying Take-Two's financial advantage.
