In the world of Hyper Light Breaker, resources play a crucial role, and none are more coveted than Golden Rations. These elusive items are vital for some of the game's most essential upgrades.
Hyper Light Breaker doesn't offer much guidance on resources and materials, leaving players to discover them through trial and error, typical of roguelike games. If you're looking to bypass the guesswork and secure Golden Rations more efficiently, here's how you can do it.
Where to Get Golden Rations
In the early access version of Hyper Light Breaker, you can obtain Golden Rations through two primary methods: exploration and cycle resets. During your runs, keep an eye out for chest icons on the map. These chests often hold resources that can be used for purchases or unlocking upgrades, and you might just find Golden Rations inside. You'll recognize a chest containing a Golden Ration by the distinctive icon above it.
Areas with Prisms, marked by a golden diamond icon on the map, are particularly promising as they often have chests with Golden Rations nearby.
The second method involves cycle resets. Each cycle represents an instance of the Overgrowth and resets when your Rez count hits zero. When you're out of revives, you can choose to retry the map, sacrificing some resources, or opt for a full cycle reset at the Cursed Outpost. After a cycle reset, if your performance earns you a high enough score to rank up, you'll be rewarded with Golden Rations.
What are Golden Rations For?
Golden Rations are key materials needed for progression in Hyper Light Breaker. They are primarily used to unlock permanent upgrades at your home base, allowing you to enhance your characters or access new services from vendors.
Moreover, Golden Rations are crucial for unlocking Sycoms, which define your chosen Breaker's stats and core passive ability, thus shaping their playstyle. This makes Sycoms highly valuable and sought after.
When you obtain your first Golden Ration, we recommend using it to purchase the extra medkit upgrade from Pherus Bit. This upgrade can significantly ease future runs, especially given the game's challenging combat mechanics that penalize mistakes.
If you die during a run, you'll retain any resources you've collected, but the weapons, amps, and perks you've equipped will suffer one pip's worth of damage, risking permanent destruction.
