The South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) has assigned an age rating of "19+" to Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. This rating is due to the game's content, which includes "excessive violence," "excessive profanity, profanity and swearing," and scenes depicting the use of various illegal substances.

Hideo Kojima recently honored actress Shiori Kutsuna with flowers for her completion of work on Death Stranding 2. Kojima expressed his gratitude, stating, "For Shiori Kutsuna, that's it. I appreciate all of your hard work." Kutsuna dedicated herself to the project, performing motion capture in Los Angeles, undergoing 3D scanning, and recording voices in both Japanese and English across various locations, all while navigating the challenges of the global pandemic.
Kojima praised her efforts, saying, "Fantastic work, much obliged!" Shiori Kutsuna has been involved with Death Stranding 2 since the fall of 2022.
At the Tokyo Game Show 2024, Hideo Kojima unveiled new materials for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. The presentation included several two-minute cutscenes, introducing the protagonist's allies. Notable characters include Tarman, played by George Miller, who captains the mobile base Magellan traversing tar lakes, and Dollman, a living doll and former medium who lost his human form, portrayed by Fatih Akin. Léa Seydoux reprises her role as Fragile.
Elle Fanning's mysterious character is named Tomorrow. According to the storyline, she was found in an otherworldly place resembling the realm of the dead. Interestingly, the original tagline for Death Stranding was "Tomorrow is in your hands."
In one of the cutscenes, characters sing the iconic song "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head" by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and engage in conversation with a pregnant woman named Rainy, portrayed by Shiori Kutsuna.
