"Choosing Your Faction in Dynasty Warriors: Origins: A Guide"

Authore: SophiaUpdate:May 25,2025

Like most *Dynasty Warriors* games, *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* will immerse you in the thrill of hacking and slashing your way through ancient China alongside various warlords. However, the time will come when you must make a pivotal decision and choose which faction to join. Here's everything you need to know about selecting factions in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins Factions Explained

*Dynasty Warriors: Origins* is structured into several chapters, with the first two chapters allowing your playable character, the Wanderer, to remain neutral. During these early stages, you'll interact with Sun Jian’s, Cao Cao’s, and Liu Bei’s factions, assisting them in battles and participating in significant historical events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.

However, as you progress to Chapter 3, *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* will prompt you that a decision must be made by the chapter's end. By this point, you'll have had ample opportunity to gauge which faction resonates with you. If you're still unsure, the game offers additional battles to help you make an informed choice.

To advance, you'll need to complete specific missions for each faction. Aligning with Sun Jian requires completing three battles, Liu Bei demands two, and Cao Cao only one. Once you've met a faction's requirements, a new mission will unlock, forcing you to choose a side. For instance, if you complete Cao Cao's mission first, you'll be presented with the option to ally with him or Liu Bei, but Liu Bei's option will be unavailable if you haven't completed his missions. You can, however, go back and complete all factions' missions before making your final decision.

Once you've made your choice, the faction you did not ally with will be locked out for the remainder of the game. You won't be able to accept sidequests from their officers, nor can you increase your bond with them. This might make the path you choose more challenging. For example, choosing Liu Bei's faction can be tougher due to fewer commanding officers and, consequently, fewer opportunities to gain skill points through sidequests.

Each faction's route also features unique missions, so if you're keen on experiencing all that *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* has to offer, consider saving your game before making your final decision. This way, you can reload and explore alliances with different leaders.

That’s how you select a faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*. The game is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
